Swimming

All of my sisters and I went swimming with all the kids. It was Preston's first time in a pool and I was very curious how he would react. He loves the bathtub. I set him in the tub and he could splash away for hours. The pool was different, it was loud, somewhat colder than a tub and very crowded. He would get splashed by other kids which he didn't like too much. I guess it is okay for him to splash himself but if someone else does it, well it is so not okay. He didn't know what to do and how to react so he just slept the whole time he was in the pool. It's better than screaming I guess. It was a hot hot day, which made me super nervous about Preston getting burned. So we didn't stay in the pool for too long and I kept lathering him in sunscreen. I am proud to say that the sun was not able to penetrate through all the sunscreen and protective clothing. It was nice to cool off in the pool though, and I can't wait for Preston to get older so we can play a little more.

Yesterday I was finally able to capture a little bit of Preston's personality on tape. He is so camera shy, making it almost impossible to capture these moments.

Playing around

Rob showed me this new photo editing program and taught me how to use it a little bit. I have been playing around with some of my pictures and I have been having way too much fun. I am just a beginner so don't judge too harshly.

Shopping Trip

Yesterday I went shopping with my sister Jenn who is in town visiting. I had fun seeing her and her daughters and I witnessed for myself just how girly those three girls of hers are. My niece Paige is probably going to be clothing designer when she grows up, I have never seen a girl so crazy about putting outfits together and wanting you to model them for her. She followed me around the store telling me what would look good on me "Amy this will look good on you. I want you to try this on." She would pick things up to give to me that were not my size so I told her to find ones with the letter M on it. After that it was so funny because she came up to me with all these shirts with the letter M on them. Then she found a dress for me. A yellow summer dress that she said was prettier than the one that I had in my hands (the same dress but white) she said for the 100th time. "I want you to try this on, I like this one better." So we went to the dressing room, and she came with so she could give me her opinion. As I am going into the dressing room she also brings me a pair of shoes that she thinks will just go great with the yellow dress. So I try on the white dress first and came out to show Paige, she looks at me and says I want you to try on the yellow dress. So I try on the yellow dress and she reminds me to put the shoes on with the dress she must see the whole outfit together, it is her masterpiece apparently. I come out and show her and she keeps complimenting me on how pretty it is. And of course now the change from "I want you to try this on" goes to "I want you to buy this" I get back into my clothes and come out with all the items I tried on and laid them on the stroller. She immediately takes the white dress and gives it to the employee working in the dressing room and says, "we don't want this" and keeps walking. I was hysterical at this point. For those of you who don't know, Paige is 4 years old. Someone goes on too many shopping trips with her mom. As we were leaving she was sure to walk me to the cashier telling me to buy the dress and shoes. The pressure a 4 year old can put on you is quite heavy. She also helped me find some things for Preston, including some sunglasses. I could keep her as my little shopping buddy. It was great.

Preston's Laugh

It has been the hardest thing to try and capture Preston laughing on video. I have tried the past 2 weeks since the first time he started laughing. Whenever you put the camera in his face he just stares at you. Nicole found a way! While me and Nicole were waiting for the boy's race to start Nicole started to make Preston laugh and after a few failed attempts at trying to tape him she secretly video taped him but you can't see his face; however, you can hear his cute little laugh and I think it is the cutest laugh ever. So turn up your volume and get ready to laugh yourself.

Busy Week

It has been a busy week, and I am glad that it is finally over. I have spent the past two weeks making 25 cheesecakes for my cousin's wedding. It was quite the task but I can honestly say I could make a cheesecake in my sleep now.

When I was not making cheesecakes I also started to plant some flowers and shrubs out front. I don't know how it happens but even after digging out a lot of rocks last year to plant the grass somehow rocks reproduce and I had to dig a whole bunch up again. Not to mention our shovel handle broke in half so I am working with a hobbit size shovel. But I was able to get some flowers planted. And I can't wait until it is completely finished.

To finish off this busy week, Matt had a race in Montecello Utah. We camped overnight and I don't think Matt and I or Jake and Nicole got much sleep because of our crying baby. Preston is not too fond of camping and I don't think I am either anymore.

It was a long hot day in Montecello as we waited for the race to start. Matt did OK, he doesn't think he had a good race but he did take 3rd in his class and 16th overall. We don't know how many people were in the race though. Nicole and I stood up to the challenge of "pit girls" - as usual. Preston was also on the cheerleading team with us, from a distance and with the noise of the bikes you could pass Preston's crying for cheering and the tears were only tears of joy. But of course some experienced grand-ma's were happy to help and take care of him while Nicole and I filled the tanks.

Matt's Babysitting Skills

On Sunday Matt was in charge of watching Preston while I worked on some cheesecakes for my cousin's wedding. This was his idea of "watching" Preston...

It worked however. I was able to get what I needed done.

The Stream

Everyone always asks when they see the stream in our backyard how full it gets, so I thought I would show all of you curious people.

Notice all of the debris. Yes we happen to have these sweet little children who live behind us who want to be bridge engineers when they grow up. They put all they can find in the stream to see if they can get across and then I am stuck with their building materials. What you see here is only half of what they threw in. Oh what little sweethearts.

Yes, that is a particle board waterfall.

Meanwhile, Preston is getting more familiar with his dad's bike and he looks pretty comfortable. Pretty soon Preston is going to be tearing it up with Matt on the trails. Just "give it a little gas" Preston!
