My ever so silly Preston

Matt and I are always asking each other, "how did Preston learn to be so silly?"  I don't know where he gets it from but I love this little boy.  Yes, there are times that I ponder my life without having a little boy in my arms grabbing my hair for him to put in his ears.  Is he worth it, yes!

I keep finding Preston's decorating around the kitchen.  Very talented.

I let him take bath in my tub yesterday.  It's amazing what a small amount of bubbles can turn into when you turn on the jets.  Preston loved it and I couldn't stop laughing.  And then the modeling came in.  He wouldn't let me put the camera away.

Other things we have been up to.  We took Preston to Home Depot for a little workshop where they built a little frame and then had their picture taken with Santa Clause.  He was not very excited about the whole sitting on Santa's lap thing.  But he loved building the frame and whenever we pass Home Depot now he says, "Dad and mia" then points to himself and does hand motions for a hammer and a screwdriver.  Quite funny.  We also made Christmas cookies the other day.  Preston wanted hammers.  Not really christmasy but I couldn't say no.  They did not make it to the frosting station though.  Preston assumed since they were indeed hammers why couldn't he hammer things with them.  Unfortunately they were all destroyed.

Preston's cookie. Yum!

And I am so proud of these cupcakes.  Aren't they  beautiful?

Mama Mia

I am not sure how this happened but ever since we moved to Arkansas Preston started calling me Mama Mia.  At first the change from just Ma, or the occasional Mama took place at the airport when we were waiting for our flight.  He started calling me Mommy!  I was happy for the change but by the next day somehow the very cute mommy turned into mama mia and the name has now stuck.  The call starts out with just Mia, however, if I ignore the first call it extends to ma mia and then in sheer desperation for my attention the cry becomes Mama Mia.  With Preston's lack of patience this means Mama Mia is reapeated quite often.

In other news.  Preston has joined the work crew on the house.  He feels it necessary to get his tools out when any worker is here, follow them around and for some odd reason repeatedly shout this same jumble of sounds which makes it look like he is giving orders.  He even finds the same tool that the man has and copies what he is doing off to the side.  I don't know what he is going to do now that all the work is finished and we won't have these people in our house entertaining him anymore.

I also have some pictures that I forgot to share from a while ago.  One is from when we roasted some hot dogs with some friends and the other is Preston in his Halloween costume.

A new chapter in our lives

We are headed to Arkansas.  My first matter of business.  Why is Arkansas pronounced different than Kansas?  Who's bright idea was that?  Matt took a job with corporate Wal-Mart in Bentonville Arkansas.  We have already found a house and are moving this Saturday.  I can't believe how fast this is going. I find a brief moment once in a while to actually let the thought sink in but then it is back to getting things ready to be packed up.  On Sunday I was an emotional wreck.  You know one of those blubbering women that we see so often at church.  The kids from Primary shared moments that they will remember about me and lessons and stories that I had shared that they enjoyed.  I was very sad to have to say good-bye.  But they left me with these cute books with all their pictures on them and their good-bye drawings.  I cannot believe that I have been with them for almost 4 years.  Saying good-bye was harder than I thought.  I will always remember them and everything they taught me.

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa Field

We are back home in Utah after visiting Matt's Grandpa and Grandma Field in Millbrook New York. We had so much fun visiting Bobby and Mary. Preston loved being there and especially enjoyed all the attention that they gave him along with all the candy that they have at their house. Preston followed Grandpa around everywhere and copied most of what he did. If Grandpa had a cane, Preston needed a cane. Matt and I had fun looking through old photo books and hearing fun stories about Grandma and Grandpa's past. We also went to the Culinary Institute of America and took a tour of the grounds, toured FDR's mansion, played at the Children's Museum, and spent the day in NYC. We had fun and already miss being around Grandma and Grandpa Field.

Dirty Dash

First I would like to post some pictures of the Dirty Dash 10K that I did a couple of weeks ago. I promised to post some. This was fun, tiring and very dirty as you can tell. I tried to stay clean but they did a good job at not making that possible, but in the end I think I came out the cleanest out of everyone. For those of you wondering, yes, I still hate running but I told my friends I would do it with them and worked hard waking up in at 6 in the morning and forcing my feet to the pavement. In the end it was worth it. I never thought of doing something like this but I do have a little sense of accomplishment and a thinner waist!

The Zoo, The Big 30, and Matt's Race

And mowing the lawn with daddy. Such a little copy cat.

Matt turned 30 this month. He didn't want any big parties so we just had a little date night and then some cupcakes to celebrate. Happy Birthday Matt. Preston and I love you very much!

For labor day we went to zoo and we saw the cute little baby elephant but that was not Preston's favorite the Carousel was of course the best.

And most recently Matt had a desert race on Saturday and took first in his class and got the hole shot(not bad for a 30 year old ;) ). Congrats Matt. Here is a sequence of pictures of the hole shot battle. Preston loved being at the race. In fact he woke up to the sounds of motorcycles. The first motorcycle he heard he shot up from the bed with both hands on his air motorcycle going "vroom vroom". Probably the best morning in his little life. In the absence of Dave Field, pit crew manager and asst. mechanic, Preston was allowed to work on Uncle Tool's and daddy's bike. Maybe that is why both took first, just a little fine tuning by the expert.
