Gingerbread House

For a little family night we made a ginger bread house. We were each supposed to make our own but as soon as they would come out of the oven Preston was eating the pieces. So we ended up with enough for one house.

Texas Trip

We went to Texas this past week to visit Matt's friend Jacob and his wife Anne. Texas was not what I had expected. The town where Jacob lives is so pretty. It had rolling hills and trees everywhere. It was so warm and pretty it made me wish I lived there. We went to visit the Texas famous Blue Bell Ice Cream factory where we saw how this number 3 in the nation ice cream was made and also had a nice little sample at the end of the tour. We visited Anne's parent's who happen to have water buffalo on their ranch. Matt fed one of them a treat and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. The water buffalo's tongue wrapped around Matt's hand like a snake to eat the snack. It gave me the heeby geebies. Then the excitement came. We got our first time experience being Texas Ranchers. One of the baby water buffalo escaped the pen and Matt and Jacob went down to help guide it back to the pen. While that was happening the dogs started attacking the goats so we were trying to save the poor goats who were screaming what actually sounded like "hellllp". It was very exciting. Next was the Alamo where Preston got a nice Davy Crockett coon skin hat which he wore the whole time we walked around the Alamo. We also went to Dallas and visited the JFK 6th floor Museum which was so interesting. Matt took me to where he used to live and he reminisced for a little while.

We also went to Fort Worth where we got to see the nations longest run cattle drive. It's really just for tourists now but they take the Long Horn cows around the block like they used to long ago. Preston was excited to see the horses and very intrigued by the long horns.

HEE HAWS

For some Friday night fun we went to the Hee Haw farms in Pleasant Grove. It was a cute but stinky place full of fun things for little kids to do. We took a ride through the corn fields, fed some farm animals, took a ride in a barrel train (slightly uncomfortable since it is really meant for small children and not adults), and went down a big homemade slide.

I took Preston to the Dentist for his first check-up or what they call "happy visit". It was funny to see him in the big chair and the look on his face was priceless. He didn't open his mouth for anyone but they let him play with the tools and he thought the water sprayer was just a funny looking sippy cup. He just wanted to drink from it. And he got a kick out of seeing himself in that little circular mirror that they put in your mouth. The dentist only was able to count his teeth before Preston shut his mouth but I would say it was a success. Start him young.

What I love about Primary

Sometimes Primary can wear me down. Today I just knew that I was going to have a very short fuse with the kids since my week with Preston was what some may call "an absolute nightmare". I start the walk into Primary knowing how hard it was going to be to put on that smile and keep the kids from jumping off the chairs. Right before I walk into the Primary room a little 6 year old runs up to me gives me a big hug and says, "I love you Sister Field". My heart melted. Isn't it odd how kids can sense when someone needs a hug. Today Primary was fantastic and I owe it all to Sam.

Forgot to mention a deep thought from a 4 year old. When asked what we should do with the scriptures in order to gain a testimony his response was,"duh, you have to open them". That's a good way to put it.

I'm A Big Kid Now

Preston's new obsession is the lawn mower and Matt made it possible for him to mow the lawn.

After helping dad in the yard Preston was kind enough to help me inside. Thanks for your help Preston!

A long hard days work of mowing the lawn and mopping the floors. Preston was so tired he was too weak to make it to his bed to sleep. The kitchen floor will do.

ABC Boogie

The other night after dinner (explains the no shirt) Preston was having a dance party with his ABC's.

Preston Coloring?

It's funny for me to picture Preston coloring in Nursery. I just have a hard time picturing him picking up a crayon and actually putting it to the paper rather than in his mouth. The past 2 weeks Preston has gone into Nursery all by himself. It is weird thinking he is old enough to be in there with all those kids and when I would go in for singing time have him in there as a little student.

Anyway here are the pictures he has colored the past 2 weeks - they are learning about the eternal family. Notice where he concentrated his coloring on Matt's picture (the daddy) how coincidental he used a yellow crayon there.
