Preston's First Bike

He doesn't really know what he is doing but I am sure he will get the hang of it.

A Trip to the Zoo

Matt took the day off on Monday so we headed to Salt Lake's Hoggle Zoo. It's not the greatest zoo in the world but we had fun. We showed Preston all the animals and I think that he was most interested in the Elephants and the Rhinos. He also had an encounter with a little muskrat. They kept entertaining each other by running back and forth and then stopping and staring at each other. Preston also rode his first carousel and he loved it. I couldn't get a good picture but Matt said he was clappingg the whole time.

And then as if the zoo was not enough animals after dinner we went to a park in Midway to feed the ducks. It was fun because the ducks would get so close to you and one even ate the whole piece of bread right out of Preston's hand. But it was not fun and games after a duck tried to eat Preston. Preston was bending over trying to do his yoga down dog pose when a duck came right up and snapped at his head. Matt pointed out that he probably thought that Preston's head was a giant piece of bread since his hair is so white.

Last but not least - Matt bought Preston a bike to start his training for a motorcycle - stay tuned for that post- but Preston's helmet came in the mail today the "lil' bell shell" is what it is called. Preston looks so funny in it.

Summer Fun

I love summer more than anything. I love playing in the water, I love being able to be outside until late at night because it stays dark until 9, and I love going to the park. I cannot believe that summer is already coming to a close. All the stores have "Back to School" stuff out and that to me is the determining factor that summer will be ending soon.

This summer Matt and I take trips to the park all the time. Preston now loves going down the slides more than anything. And he loves to follow other kids around trying to get their attention so they will play with him.

We went to the pool with my sister last week and Preston was a little hesitant about the whole water splashing everywhere and kids splashing him. He just stayed right by these water fountains the whole time with really no expression on his face whatsoever.

I don't know if Preston likes swimming in the lake any better but he is getting used to it. I think his favorite thing is driving the boat. That is the one thing he enjoys most.

Excitement in Heber City?

I had the most interesting day on Monday. Preston and I were in the kitchen getting ready to start our dinner prep when out of nowhere there was this massive BOOM sound that caused the house to actually shake! I grabbed Preston and ran outside to see what was making that sound and I immediately see this ginormous fire behind our house. A couple more explosions kept going off and the house keeps shaking and pictures were falling off our walls, I was just shocked at what was going on. For a brief moment I debated if I should grab anything valuable and get out of there but the fire department only being a block away had the fire under control within 5-10 minutes so my panic died very quick. They did evacuate us...only to the opposite side of the street until they were sure it was safe...not really sure 15 feet would keep me any more safe than my own home but I won't question the authorities.

Anyway, it turns out that a guy in our ward had oxygen tanks in a shed that somehow caught fire and that what was causing the loud explosions and the massive fireball that I saw. Matt and I saw the damage and it is really a miracle that nobody was hurt.

It was pretty exciting though, I think everyone who lives in Heber was on our street that day or driving by to see the damage.
