Legoland and the Carlsbad Beach

We have lived in Arizona for over a year and promised the kids a trip to Legoland.  Now that we are about to leave Arizona and move back to Arkansas we had to squeeze in a trip.  We spent one day at the beach in Carlsbad and one day at Legoland.

The boys love the beach, especially Porter.  He has been begging to go back to the beach for a while now and his excitement when he encountered his first wave was proof that he loves that wild ocean. Every time a wave came crashing in Porter was a giggling crazy man.  He would chase them, they would knock him down, he would come up laughing hysterically and then the whole process would start over again.  Every. Single. Time.  The bigger the wave the bigger the excitement.  There were times I thought he was going to be swallowed up by that mighty Pacific and Matt and I both spent most of the day picking porter up after a crashing wave, or  chasing after him so he wasn't sucked under.  While all this wave excitement was going on, you could look over and see Preston quietly building his own sand creation, looking for special shells and rocks.  He doesn't trust the ocean the way Porter does.  He likes to keep his distance from that unpredictable beast only to venture close if he sees a rock or shell or needs some water to help in his sand castle creation.  I love that almost every picture I have of him he is running away from the water as if it was a monster trying to swallow him up.

Legoland was a total hit for these boys.  The rides are made for their ages, they only had two big coasters and one of them Porter could not ride and Preston said it looked like too much fun for him to go on. (well played Preston, well played).  Porter loved the coaster that he went on and I had to take him on it a few more times.  giggling and begging for more each time we went.  Preston loved all the building stations.  He built his own car and raced it and in the water park he built his own boat and raced it.  Preston also loved the lazy river, I think it was his most favorite thing in the whole park.  He put some blocks on his raft and floated around and around begging to go around again and again.
Both boys loved driving their own Lego car and we also did a family race as we drove a fire truck and had to put out the fire.  I think we took second but you know who was really keeping track ;)  Preston also really liked seeing all the Lego Star wars exhibits.  He made Matt take a picture of him with every piece.

Porter remember how much he loved the ocean.

Porter is in that wave somewhere...

It's COMING!!!!!!!

His reaction every time he saw a wave. followed by him running into at full speed and usually being knocked over.

a sight we all had to see after big waves would try to eat porter.

The Hotel we were at was awesome too.  It had a lot of kids activities like crafts and smore roasting and different pools to play in.
