A Summer full of Bad Luck and Change

I already mentioned all the summer things we did,  I failed to mention all the negative/ unlucky things that happened this summer.  Since this is my only journal I had better mention the negative too.
In May, Matt was told that Wal-Mart's Phoenix office was going to be closed.  We could go back or we could take severance and try to find a new job.  We tried to look for something new, however he could not find anything that he felt was comparable so after a long summer of job searching and sleepless nights he accepted a job back in Arkansas with Wal-Mart.  So, in October we will be moving back to Arkansas.

A week after the big job announcement he was rear ended on the freeway on his way home from work.  Now his car was totaled, but luckily he was just fine.

In July, Matt and a friend decided to go riding early in the morning before it became unbearably hot outside.  I assumed Matt would be home close to 11 but soon it was 1 and I had not heard from him.  Then I got a call saying they were OK, but they were lost and his friend had no more energy to continue on.  Then I received another call saying they were at the car and they had to leave their bikes in the desert because they decided to call the Sheriff's office to help them.  A helicopter had to come pick them up in the dessert and take them back to the car.  At first I thought Matt was playing a joke on me but soon I discovered that he really did enjoy a rescue helicopter ride.  The next day the two of them, with the help of the sheriffs department, were able to hike in and get to their bikes, save them from the desert, and make it home alive.  It took him almost an entire day to get their bikes out from the ravines they were stuck in.  Matt came home exhausted and covered in cactus needles.  It was a 4th of July he will never forget. Matt learned that the desert can be very dangerous and I sense that he has a little hesitation allowing the boys to continue in the hobby.
