The Big Launch

I mentioned earlier that Preston spent the summer reading for a prize.  He was never really fully decided on what he wanted that prize to be.  But once he had every box filled with one of those shiny metallic stars he was more than ready to head to the store and find himself a prize.

Off to the store he and Matt went and when they returned what they had in their hands surprised

me quite a bit.  A rocket building set.  They set out to build these 2 rockets and spent most of the day gluing and waiting and assembling and waiting.  Finally the time had come. The rockets were ready for launch.

We headed to the park so that we could have plenty of space for the "big launch" in the dreadful heat we set everything up and situated ourselves for the upcoming amazement.  Preston excitedly pushed that button and... nothing.  Nothing happened.  We tried again and... nothing.  Such disappointed little boys.  We went back home to figure things out. It was a few days later when we had time to launch it again (we had to take a quick trip to Utah for a Funeral) and this time we figured out the problem.

Preston pushed that button and the rocket went flying into the air!  It was so fun to watch, and even better to see both Preston and Porter's excitement.  They were jumping they screaming they were the happiest little boys in the world at that moment.

A little swinging break while dad figured out the rocket.

Preston started a new reading chart and is now eyeing bigger rockets for his prize.
