For Memorial Day weekend we took a family vacation to Los Angeles CA. We flew this time instead of driving which was so much easier with a baby - except for going through security - that is very hard with a baby because you have to take them out of the car seat and put the car seat and the stroller through the screening machine and then load him back into the seat and stroller which causes a huge hold up in the line. I felt bad but oh well.

The reason we went on this trip was to see the Glen Helens Motocross which Matt got free tickets to. The weather was not ideal but it was fun to see a motocross, but very hard with a baby. I think the next time Preston goes to one of these he will need to be a little bit older. Maybe in about 5 years or so. Although, the sound of the bikes put him to sleep surprisingly enough. It was when the sound stopped that he would wake up and start crying.

We met up with Matt's friend Ben on the trip who has been living in L.A. for 3 years and he gave us the tour of the L.A. area including some famous peoples houses, the HOLLYWOOD sign, Malibu, Bel Air and Beverly Hills. And he introduced Matt and I to Russian Food which was very tasty. After that we enjoyed just sitting in the sand watching the waves and to our surprise we got to see a group of dolphins putting on a little show for us. I tried to download the video but it is not working. Too bad, because it is really exciting.

As for a baby update. Preston is getting bigger. He was 13 pounds at his last doctor's visit and 24 inches long. He has learned a new trick which I would rather not have him do, which is sucking his thumb. He does it when he goes to sleep, usually if he wakes himself up and goes back to sleep on his own. When I check up on him I usually find him sleeping peacefully with thumb in mouth. Hopefully this is a short term thing. But he looks so cute when he does it.
