Matt and Jake took part in an epoch battle in Hurricane, Utah this past weekend. They put their helmets on and geared up for a 50 mile race against fearless, overly exposed to exhaust fumes, dirt hungry men all wanting to claim the victory for the once a year Rhino Rally. Matt did well. He had a crash at the beginning putting him in what he says "last place, with the struggling beginner riders" and he worked his way up to a 30th place finish for the whole Novice class of about 150 people (actually I don't know the real number but I would guess 150). Last to 30th is pretty good, and he only was passed by one rider the whole time!
Here is video of the start. I am not the best video taper because I get side tracked trying to tell Nicole where the boys are so she can get a picture while I am taping them. It usually ends up as a failed attempt for both parties. We try. Maybe we will get it down next time. Finding Matt and Jake is sort of a Where's Waldo experience but they are in the video. See if you can find them. (yellow matching bikes, green number plates and one rider in black gear one in white). If you look close you will see a great crash scene with a boy who ran his front tire into a ravine and his bike does an outstanding 720 flip along with the rider. He was so pumped I don't think he noticed and he just got right back up. If you turn your speakers on you can hear the crowd, along with my great narrating voice.
Yes, 9 months pregnant and traveling down to Hurricane. Matt was a wreck the whole time, thinking I was going to go into labor at any minute. Anytime I moved he thought the baby was coming. Don't worry he tried to assure me that if I did go into labor Nicole could deliver the baby. You know, Radiology Tech's see a lot of baby deliveries, they work at the hospital after all ;) . However, I pulled through without having a baby in the deserts of Utah. I did get a great sunburn on one whole side of my face though. It was quite painful and I look like a complete idiot. Large, sunburnt on one half of my face, and unable to bend over...THAT'S ME!

Too bad Preston wasn't born in the desert, I think that would have been a kick-butt start to life on Earth. And I only watched that video to hear your narration, which I appreciated :-)
Well, I have to confess that I can't find Matt and Jake in your video. Maybe Dave can help me when he looks at it. Also, could you please favor us with a picture of you at the 9 months pregnant stage? You really need to take that photo so that later when you're all teeny again you can marvel at your lovely pregnant belly.
If you really want to see this belly, I think I could probably take a picture. Although, I am starting to think that the only way this baby is going to come out is if the doctor pulls him out. So I might have this belly forever.
