Quick trip to Tucson

We decided Friday night that we should head down to Tuscon for the weekend.  It is only a 2 hour drive from us and they have this amazing 60 acre Air and space museum completely full of all kinds of airplanes. We were completely surrounded by airplanes and the boys wanted to push every button they could find.  As we perused around looking at all these airplanes and trying to read about their history - I just kept thinking that Matt's brother needed to be with us for this one.  I could seriously bet that he could tell us everything about every single one of those planes in that museum.  Or at least come close.  Matt and I are not plane experts, but they were very cool to see in person.  Of course I forgot my camera for the trip so we have to deal with phone photos for this one.

After some Sonoran style hot dogs (Matt's new favorite) and carne asada tacos we stopped by the hotel to swim and rest.   Then we went over to a Wild West stunt show.  I vaguely remembered one of these from when I was little.  It was just as funny as it was when I was little.  And it was even more fun to see Porter giggling as the actors did their silly stunts.

On the way home we stopped at the Heard Museum in Phoenix.  It is a Native American History museum and they were also featuring a Lego interactive exhibit which, to be honest, is what sold it to the boys.  The Museum itself was absolutely beautiful.  They had amazing exhibits and artwork and the building was spectacular.  But when you bring in Lego, that is all some of us can think of (I am equally as guilty here). The Lego exhibits were amazing, as always, and you could create your own structures, city, or cars.  If you built a car there was a ramp that you could race it against other little builders.  This was Preston's favorite thing to do.  So, mom, aka Master Builder ;)  had to figure out how to build the ultimate race car and incorporate Preston's unique design style.  In the end the last car was totally the fastest out there.  Yep, pretty proud of that spaceship/car/Benny tribute vehicle.

The museum in Lego form.

The fastest lego vehicle made (at that very moment anyway)

Porter is just putting some finishing touches on his masterpiece.

Porter spent forever building towers with the large foam Lego's.  Which I have never seen before but think this boy is in need of them.  Building awesome towers and then karate chopping them over, it doesn't get much better than that.
